The political world was shocked today when South Carolina governor Mark Sanford admitted that he had an affair with an Argentinian woman that had been going on for about a year. The admission came after the governor disappeared over the weekend with neither his staff nor family sure of his whereabouts.
This is another huge black eye for a weakened Republican party who saw Sanford as a strong conservative voice for the 2012 Presidential nomination.
In connection with these revelations, Sam the Eagle made remarks expressing his dissatisfaction with the governor. He called Sanford's actions "perverted", "inexcusable", and "immoral beyond all definition of the word immoral."
Eagle is seen as the leading conservative voice in the diverse Muppet Party and a leading contender in California for either governor or senator in the 2010 elections.
